How can we help?

On any Mac with macOS 10.15 Catalina or later, from the Mac App Store or from Steam. The game is a universal app, so it runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel.

On Windows, Chesstics runs on Windows 10 (64-bit) and newer, from Steam. It needs the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime there, which comes with Windows 11 and reaches Windows 10 through Edge.

Yes. Chesstics is on Steam, for Windows and Mac. Online it makes no difference where you got the game: players from Steam and from the Mac App Store are matched on the same server.

Type a square the way it is written: A 1 picks up the unit on A1, A 2 moves it there if the move is allowed. The arrow keys walk a cursor, Enter or Space confirms, Tab steps through your units and Esc puts a unit down or opens the pause menu. With the mouse, a right-click puts a unit back down.

A gamepad works too: the d-pad moves, A confirms, B cancels, the shoulder buttons step through your units and Start opens the menu.

On your computer, inside the game's own storage — nothing is kept anywhere else. A campaign in progress is saved after every move, clock included, and offered as “Resume game” on the title screen. “New game” starts a fresh campaign and replaces the old one.

Online play needs an internet connection that allows secure WebSocket connections to multiplayer.chesstics.app. Networks that block them — some company or school networks — keep the game offline. If it still does not connect, write to us; the campaign against the computer works without a connection.

With the flag in the bottom right corner of the title screen. Chesstics speaks English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Ukrainian, Greek, Turkish, Japanese and Korean.

No. There are no ads, no analytics and no account. Online, the game server passes the moves between the two players while the match lasts and keeps nothing afterwards. The privacy policy has the details.
